The Telebouncer TB1000 by DASYm (now defunct) does not have the downsides of these competitors:
1) Telezapper; a) battery required b) must open unit to set switch c) annoying beep each time receiver is lifted.
2) Zep 100; a) you hear every call and must pick up to determine if you want the call, then press a button to send a stop call msg.
3) Call Block Computer (JFTD); a) must program all desired and undesired ph #’s b) caller ID only shows up on the device and not on your phones c) user guide has poor rating.
The Telebouncer TB1000 has 4 settings; 1) STANDBY – your phone disregards this machine. 2) TELEMARKETING – your phone does not ring. Sends your recorded msg to dial 1, 2, up to 3 with distinctive ring tones for desired person/fax. 3) DO NOT DISTURB – only pressing the # key will make your phone ring as your msg tells callers. 4) CALLER ID – just like telemarketing BUT your phone will ring once. Caller ID will appear on all phones. Caller will hear the options you recorded under telemarketing mode. Telemarketing calls will display “unknown” “out of area” etc. Recorded calls cannot get through.
Best machine I found. No downside. Works as advertised. Ops manual is thorough and installation and operation is so easy “a cave man could do it”. If you can find one buy it.
